Wild Flower Foray

A fabulous flower foray! We hope to showcase the wonderful range of wildflowers that grow on Cleeve Common, a mecca for botanists.

Join our Flower Foray to find out why it is such an important refuge for rare flora (with a bit of luck we will find some of them). We will walk over the agriculturally unimproved grassland of the Common looking for typical limestone grassland flowers and some Cotswold specialties too. The grassland is of high nature conservation value and as such has protected status as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. As we meet some of the rarer and more vulnerable species, we will see the benefits of the careful grazing strategy of the past few years and look at other conservation techniques and experiments.
